BDOC Song War Winner (Texas)
BDOC: Standing Out, Staying True
Breaking out as an underground artist is no easy path, but BDOC has never been one to follow the crowd. From small-town Texas roots to making noise in the underground scene, he’s carving out his own lane with authenticity, originality, and a relentless drive.
The Challenges of Being Underground
For BDOC, the toughest obstacle hasn’t been making music it’s been getting people to hear it. “My biggest challenges I would say are definitely getting heard,” he admits. “As an underground artist you really have to come with something different in order to stand out. I’ve always stood by staying true to my sound regardless of somebody liking it.”
That determination to remain authentic has become a defining part of who he is as an artist.
Music With Meaning
Beyond just beats and bars, BDOC wants his music to resonate. “I want people to know that they’re not alone,” he says. “My main thing is making music that people can relate to. I wanna make something for everybody. I’m not trying to be your average Joe that cap raps or copy and pastes everything. I wanna stand out.”
For him, every track is a chance to connect with listeners on a deeper level.
What’s Next
The grind never stops. BDOC is currently putting in work on multiple projects and lining up some major collaborations. “I have some big features coming up and it won’t stop there,” he teases, hinting at big moves on the horizon.
The Story Behind the Name
The name BDOC has roots that go way back. “I got my artist name back when I was in 6th grade. I used to be a battle rapper. From there it really stuck with me. I wanted something original and that would stand out.”
That originality has carried over into his music today.
Influences & Inspiration
When it comes to his top five, BDOC blends legends and lyricists: 2Pac, Big L, Eminem, J. Cole, and K.A.A.N. The influence of these heavyweights can be felt in his music raw honesty, sharp lyricism, and an emphasis on storytelling.
From Olney to Dallas and Back
Originally from Olney, Texas, BDOC’s life shifted dramatically after his mother’s passing in 2013. He moved to Dallas that same year before returning home, where he built new connections with his father’s side of the family.
The back-and-forth between Olney and Dallas left its mark on his sound. “I’d definitely say the way it’s affected my sound would be I take some of the real things I’ve seen and fuse it into my music. I have that Texas sound but I wanna stand out and be my own.”
Working With Artist Outlook
Reflecting on his recent collaboration, BDOC shares: “My experience was great. I plan to continue working with Artist Outlook.”
