G3NG4R: All In Purple

For Connecticut-based artist G3NG4R, music is both obsession and outlet. His name, inspired by his love of Pokémon and anime specifically the fierce, purple energy of Gengar captures the bold, aggressive edge that runs through his work.

But the journey hasn’t been easy. “The challenge I’ve run into the most is people either not caring or not really trying to listen to my artwork, which is disheartening at times,” he admits. Even so, discouragement hasn’t stopped him. Instead, it fuels his determination. G3NG4R continues creating relentlessly, making new beats, experimenting with sounds, and pushing himself to stay versatile.

His influences reveal the breadth of his palette: Bones, Makavelligodd, Ericdoa, Brakence, and Three Days Grace top his list, a lineup that hints at the fusion of rap, trap metal, and alternative tones in his music. Growing up in Connecticut has also shaped his sound. He notes that the state’s proximity to both New York and Massachusetts exposes him to unique flavors of rap though it’s the grit and intensity of New York’s trap-metal scene that stuck the most.

When it comes to Artist Outlook and Song Wars, G3NG4R doesn’t just show up he thrives. “I had a lot of fun as usual, man. I always love coming out and supporting what y’all are doing. It’s really inspiring to see all these artists coming together and listening to different styles and learning new techniques or sounds I can incorporate into my own stuff.”

For G3NG4R, the mission is simple: keep growing, keep experimenting, and keep proving that his purple-tinged sound deserves to be heard.
