Metakate: Turning Pain into a Dream

For rising artist Metakate, music wasn’t just a passion — it was a lifeline. Her journey began during a transformative chapter in her life: her first time in rehab at 25. What started as a group therapy exercise in a music program led to a pivotal connection with another artist, who showed her how to structure her emotions into songs. From there, Metakate began writing not just for herself, but for others — marking the start of a deeply personal and cathartic journey in music.

🎶 Sound Driven by Emotion

Metakate’s sound is raw, vulnerable, and refreshingly honest. She doesn’t chase trends — she writes what she feels. Her catalog is filled with heartfelt love songs, reflections on loss, and stories of personal insecurity. “I just put my feelings completely out there on the track,” she says. That transparency has allowed her to connect with fans on a deep level, especially when it comes to music about those she’s lost.

“If it’s a song about one of my homies that’s passed away and someone messages me about it and tells me their story — that’s really beautiful. It helps me keep going.”

🌍 Roots & Reality

Born in New Hampshire but based in California most of her adult life, Metakate draws influence from the people and places that shaped her. But with exposure also comes vulnerability — and one of her toughest challenges as an underground artist has been facing hate online.

“The hardest part is trying not to internalize all the hate on the internet.”

Still, she powers through, fueled by the people who connect with her music and the stories they share in return.

🚀 What’s Next for Metakate?

She’s closing out the year strong with two upcoming projects:

  1. An emotional EP centered on friends she’s lost, currently set to include three soul-stirring songs.
  2. A full-length project with singles dropping monthly — culminating in a full release by the end of the year.

With consistency, vulnerability, and undeniable heart, Metakate is carving out a lane that’s hers alone.

🤝 Artist Outlook Experience

When asked about her time with Artist Outlook and the Song Wars series, she praises the supportive community and the versatility within the collective. “It’s great — looking forward to doing some collabs,” she adds.
