Rula 17: Pain Into Bars

Rula 17: Turning Pain into Purpose Through Sound

For Rula 17, music isn’t just expression—it’s survival. Born and raised in Clover, South Carolina, his story echoes with the weight of real-life struggles, emotional scars, and the resilience it takes to keep going. What started as a coping mechanism became a calling.

“My friends and the problems I grew up with just turned me to music,” he shares. “I always used it to cope—and so did my mom. So I wanted to start rapping.”

That generational bond with music laid the foundation, but it’s pain and emotion that now fuel his sound. “My pain influences most of my sound,” he says, speaking with a raw honesty that you can feel in every verse. But it’s not just about him—it’s also about the people he loves. “My mom, my friends, and others I care for keep me going.”

The path hasn’t been easy. Fake friends. Self-doubt. Grief. Rula 17 has faced moments where giving up seemed easier than pushing forward. “I was scared to show my music to others,” he admits. “Death in my family and mental health struggles were heavy.” But through it all, he kept writing—kept fighting.

His mission now is clear: to share that journey. “I want people to hear my story and understand the things I went through,” he says. “I want them to take it as motivation—that they can do it too. Even if it’s not music, anything you put your mind to can happen.”

And Rula isn’t slowing down. More music is on the way, but it won’t stop there. “I’m dropping more content—music videos, new ways of connecting with people. I’m stepping into everything.”

With vulnerability as his strength and truth as his weapon, Rula 17 isn’t just making music—he’s building something real. His pain may have shaped him, but his purpose is what defines him.
